Since we are a new board, we're open to questions and suggestions! ;D This can include topic suggestions. (Note that you can create your own topics; however, if you're not sure how to start said topic per se, you can mention it here for someone else to start - all members should feel free to do this, seeing as the topic is on topic and appropriate.)
Before asking questions, however, please check the Posting Guidelines and the Board Guide threads.

I know you said this was not to be another SQ, but is there any chance of a drabble thread? Just something simple for us all to keep our hands in and provide a bit of light entertainment.

There's actually already a community for the drabblers of Sugar Quill, so we decided not to have our own thread. However, we will be posting fanfiction soon, and that will be forum based. (We're still trying to figure out how!) Link to the community: community.livejournal.com/sq_drabblers/profile

OK, I give up. How does one gain or give Karma points?

I just tested it on you, and apparently you click the little "Exalt" button. You get one a day, from the looks of it.

I was on another board that had karma points...you may use the feature once an hour and giveth or taketh away from your board-mates by Exalting or Smiting, respectively.
I guess there is some shred of Hufflepuffiness in me, because I just make it a habit to Exalt someone every time I post, just because it's fun. I've never Smited anyone, though. I guess there has to be one area of life where I'm not a snarky you-know-what.

I think it would be fun, and not competitive with the LJ people, to have a drabble thread here. If you don't want to call it that, then have a theme. I've been at other sites that had, for example, a ball of yarn that rolled all over Hogwarts. Each new entry was a drabble that took the yarn through a different character/situation, but connected them all with the yarn. The requirement was that the final sentence left the yarn very open for the next person to pick up. I've also seen ones where the next post had to begin with the next sequential letter of the alphabet. Again, with a hundred word limit to tell the situation.
Right now Potter sites are atrophying by the dozens, so if your members show interest, it really isn't the most wise move to block that enthusiasm.

mwpp, hang tight - we're getting there. We probably won't have a drabble thread exactly like the one on the LJ group/Sugar Quill, but we're working on ideas for those types of things. The yarn idea you presented is quite interesting.

Umm.... Could you please change the font used for the "reply, search, profile" etc. buttons, it is really tough for us old guys who can't see so well to read.... A solid letter rather than an outlined one would be much easier to read. Thanks. .

I'm only familiar (and I use that term loosely) with Invision Boards, but in the Admin area you just change a bit of the coding (like when you change board headers and such).
[As long as I'm talking about coding, you have a bracket missing in the first post.]

MWPP, believe me, I've looked. Unless I've missed something, and I'm hoping that I have, that seems to just be the way it is. I have contacted support, but I have a feeling that we may not have any choice.

OK, another....
Being the lazy person I am, I tried to Google here and it doesn't come up. So I went to my email and linked from ther, then tried entering a bit at a time in the Google search and the best that comes up is the link VegaBlack has posted in her LJ.
How can traffic be directed here (at least be able to find here anyhow)? Or how do we get a more direct link via search engines?

I don't know how to get us on search engines; I think it's a matter of time, really. There are ways actual websites can, but I don't know about boards.

Just a Q ~
What are the Karma Points for? Are they popularity, quality of posting, do they allow some special priviledge, what?

Are there any rules on making topics?
Specifically, I want to make topics for Ginny (and/or a Weasley thread), Draco (and/or a Malfoy thread) and one for people who have personal LJs/fic and fanart LJs they may want to share. But I want to ask before I get posting just in case you all would prefer a Weasley thread to just a Ginny thread or the like.

I will make the threads that you asked for. Though I'm a mod I don't know the rules about members making threads, because I'm an idiot newby about modly things.

Thank you so much, VegaBlack. And mwpp maybe no one knows? Maybe we should pick someone, overload them with Karma points and see what happens. (I kid.)
