My favorite Alan Rickman role and movie is GalaxyQuest. I just absolutely love him in it. If I were to ever meet Rickman, I'd go squealy and fangirly over Alexander Dane and I'd be peppering him with questions about GQ rather than HP.

I absolutely loved Maggie Smith in Murder By Death. It's a parody of detective tropes (mostly Agatha Christie-style) and is set at a weekend party at a country estate. There are creaky doors, a blind butler, and a deaf-mute maid. Many of the big stars of the mid-70's were involved...Peter Sellers, David Niven, Alec Guiness, etc. It also features a young James Cromwell and Truman Capote.

I loved Rupert in Driving Lessons. There is a montage when he is doing Shakespeare with Julie Walters and he's BRILLIANT at it!
I also liked Emma Watson in Ballet Shoes. She was much more palatable in this. I don't think she worked as a blonde and her crying was terrible but she was very convincing as the oldest sister, driven by her need to protect her family.

One of my favorite films is Billy Elliott. Julie Walters is the dancing teacher. It is a kind of motherly part just like Mrs Weasley. (And you know I like Mrs Weasley! )

If you haven't had a chance to see Bottle Shock, go rent it now. It has Alan Rickman as Steven Spurrier, the man who set up the legendary Judgment of Paris in which California wines went head to head with French wine in a blind taste test and the California wines came out ahead. It also has Chris Pine as the son of a winemaker.
