Reviews can be wonderful; but sometimes they come in unique packages. Sometimes it's merely unintentional double meanings. Sometimes it's trolls, and/or obviously young kids having fun. Sometimes they're actually a little cruel. And in some cases, there's simply no way to describe them. I know one time I got a review that said something like this: And this: There was also an incident in which I'd beta read a friend's fanfic, albeit poorly - I desperately needed a beta myself at the time! Still, it hurt when a reviewer who knew full well (along with the rest of the readers) that I was the beta and reading her thread said: While she was right, because I sucked (even for a teenager), that was still very awkward and embarassing.

That last one is very harsh. I once received a review where someone told me that Ron would hang himself if Rose was ever sorted into the House I had her sorted. I never saw Ron as suicidal, I must say. But my favorite was on FF.net. There they allow you to do little list fics like "Five Things About So-and-So" and I have a series where the first two lists are for Harry Potter and Daphne Greengrass, respectively, so I put them as the two characters in the fic. (You're only allowed to choose two.) I received at least five angry reviews because it wasn't a Harry/Daphne story. As I discovered, Harry/Daphne is a very popular pairing with the fanboys (and girls but mostly boys) that hang out at FF.net. Who knew?
