Or, 'The Potter's Tale.'
JKR already said that the Tale of the Three Brothers is based on Pardoner's Tale. I would go further and say that Luna Lovegood's father may have been influenced by the Pardoner himself - pop out eyes, stringy blond hair, a penchant for religious symbols, a selfish streak, a very creepy aura...
Furthermore, I can't help but think that Gilderoy Lockhart's fate has the same smacks of karma as the Miller's Tale. Is Mrs. Weasley a reimagined Wife of Bath? Is poor Merope Gaunt supposed to draw comparisons with Patient Griselda?
So, this is a thread for discussion of did The Canterbury Tales influence the series, compare and contrast the Tale of Three Brothers with the Pardoner's Tale, and hunt out what other influences there may be. Let's talk!
Frankly, after having visited Canterbury, I wouldn't be surprised if Hogsmeade was supposed to be like it. Especially since the most we hear about Hogsmeade is the main street with a ton of nifty shops on it - sounds kind of like the High Street (the section of Canterbury I got to know the best) to me. Just replace the Cathedral on the horizon with Hogwarts and you're good.
And relocate the entire thing to Scotland, but that's another matter.
